Products
included: 23 different models of Handguns
from the new USFA Plinker in .22 L.R./ 22MAG to the
USFA Lightning Rifle in 45 Colt. There were 3 new
product introductions: the USFA Patriot™ Series
including the “Lend-Lease Pre-War in 5 -1/2 ,45 ACP
and the New “US 30” 7 1/2 .30 Caliber Carbine, the
entire class of New rimfire revolvers and the new
Lightning Center Fire magazine rifles. More than
10,000 rounds were fired back in September 2004 during the shoot held at “Fort Apache”,
the new SASS shooting club sponsored by USFA on the grounds of the Hartford Gun
Club - America's oldest founded in 1884.
Gun Models
Available for shooting:
Note: Rifles were assembled
from standard production parts and were built with
work stocks. They were not
finished or polished except as needed internally to
insure the actions functioned properly. The guns were
all built using normal production techniques with no
slicking of the action to insure that the shooters
could see how the gun they can buy will function in
everyday use.

Lightning
Rifle and Carbine |

Here are the
results: No malfunctions due to wear.
One rifle jam caused by wrong type of ammunition
chambered
in wrong chamber {38 Special in a 38-40 }. One by
loading of 44-40 in a 45 Colt Rifle - no damage but
bullets still hit target even though cases were
fire-formed to chamber! One broken Extractor in
another rifle because of above scenario causing the
extractor to jam itself with nowhere to go causing
expended round to not eject. Replaced in the field and
continued to function with no further occurrence in it
or any other rifle fielded. More than 8000 rounds
expended {38/40, 44/40 and 45 Colt combined} in the
rifles. No light strikes, no round failed to detonate
because of faulty primers, no round failed to eject
except as noted above.

Rim
Fire Revolvers |
 |
|
No breakage of any kind
in any of the models fielded. One gun experienced
heavy lead buildup--1500 rounds =
3 / 500 rounds bricks, Winchester Super-X being shot
through it in a single afternoon--- total rounds
expended in all rim-fire +/- 2700 rounds. -No light
strikes, no round failed to detonate because of faulty
primers, no failure to extract. |
|
| |
Center
Fire Revolvers |
 |
|
No breakage of any kind in any
of the models fielded. All revolvers functioned
well however one was found to
be fouled with excessive powder residue and would
become sticky after firing and not rotate easily after
more than 700 rounds.
No breakage or malfunctions and all revolvers operated
normally.

A
Spectacular Event |
 |
“Dear Doug: This was as spectacular
event (U.S. Firearms Shooter Appreciation Day). It
was certainly good for the club and the sport. Your
people were outstanding at all levels… teaching… helping… sharing… loading… and
as range safety officers. They were all enthusiastic
and knowledgeable about the product, and you could
tell they all liked working at the company. They
took pride in their product. Having been in the printing
business for 40 years, I think I can spot happy plant
employees from sad ones. You have a remarkable collection
of very happy, productive employees. I know they
will attract similar people to the company in years
ahead. None of this happens by accident. Your dynamic
leadership from the top is what makes your team want
to come to work and perform. Providing events like
you did at the Hartford Gun Club acknowledges the
pride they have in their work and that you have in
them. …You don't have much chance of failure
by your present standards of operation. Keep up the
good work !!!!” — E. Laird Mortimer III,
CT. |
